Tehran: Ayatolla Jannati Calls on EU to Comply with Nuke Agreement
The Word Unheard from Tehran is that Ayatolla Ahmad Jannati said in Friday prayers that he hoped Europe would comply with agreements triangulated by the the EU, the IAEA and the Tehran regime.
He further said, "The atmosphere prevailing in the IAEA Board of Governors (since the deal) has been favorable to Iran and the possibility of a reference of its nuclear dossier to the UN Security Council has been removed. It seems resolving the issue should now go through the normal process."
What precisely has Europe sworn to do that would qualify as compliance?
How will anyone know if Iran has complied as there are no mechanisms at all for verification?
"They have now even accepted that Iran's suspension of uranium enrichment is temporary and voluntary, which is a major progress since what was originally requested was that Iran permanently suspend enrichment which actually meant freezing of our nuclear activities," he added.
They have not accepted 'Iran's suspension' at all. 'They' have accepted words and nothing more. Dangerous folley.
Further, are Europe's required actions as temporary as Iran's public swearing of suspension of uranium enrichment?
The Ayatolla went on to say, "Besides, it (EU) stopped the objections to the country's nuclear activities and recognized its legal right to obtain nuclear technology for peaceful ends."
He noted that the world has no alternative but to recognize Iran's undeniable right to pursue nuclear technology as it is a right guaranteed under the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
At what point has Iran ever felt constrained by the Nuclear NPT? Now we are to accept their use of the paper document in defense of their 'rights'?
It is worthy of note that the Ayatolla delivered his sermon/speech about Iran's 'peaceful' nuclear program from a mosque and behind a pulpit flanked on both sides with floor to cieling murals of bearded, bandana clad, AK-47 toting Islamic warriors.
Contrast this image to the recent dressing-down of an American officer who spoke of the War on Terror to his church during services. The forward momentum of his career was abruptly halted soon after.
For those of you who rest a little easier now that the EU and Iran have struck a deal, sleep with one eye open.
Chester has written an outstanding analysis of the Iranian nuclear crisis at The Adventures of Chester.

The Future of the Iranian Nuclear Program: Part II
The Future of the Iranian Nuclear Program: Part III
The Future of the Iranian Nuclear Program: Part IV
This is a rolling analysis with Part V coming in the next few days and probable subsequent additions thereafter.
I strongly encourage giving it a look.
