Iran's Massive Beryllium Purchases for Nuclear Device Development
The Word Unheard breaking over the weekend is information regarding Iran's massive beryllium purchases. Beryllium is critical to the beginning stages of a detonation that causes shaped charges to explode inward, compressing enriched uranium or plotonium to the point that the uranium/plutonium itself explodes (nuclear detonation).
Now, beryllium has other uses as well, such as for the manufacture of spark plugs and X-ray equipment. However, I do not believe that the Islamic Republic has engaged in a competitive automotive parts manufacturing or medical equipment manufacturing industry.
North Korea, China and parts of the former Soviet Union were cited in an intelligence report to congress as having supplied Iran with long-range missile technology & equipment, according to the Arab Times. They are also the likely sources of the beryllium, though the intelligence source stopped short of naming any specific countries.
How many incidents, findings and discoveries can be dismissed as 'coincidental' by those who doubt Iran's nuclear weapons intentions?
Those who understand clearly Iran's intentions yet continue to dismiss the seriousness of the consequences need to have their heads examined. I am constantly, repeatedly and continuously dumbfounded by the willful ignorance of the EU/E3 and the IAEA.
You can (in Fantasyland) argue that Iran is the world's leading spark plug or X-ray machine producer, but do so at your own peril.
Again I scream:
For those of you who sleep better at night with the EU/IAEA-Iran nuclear agreement, sleep with one eye open.
The longer we wait...
You had better stop brooding over the cost of baseball gloves at Wal-Mart and pay attention.
You have been warned.
There are no more excuses, for the consequences of your continued ignorance may be rewarded soon with a mushroom cloud over Long Beach Harbor, Houston, Jacksonville or Port Elizabeth.
