Germany Detains al-Qaida Terrorist: Attempted to Buy Enriched Uranium
The Word Unheard out of Germany today is that one of two al-Qaida connected terrorists arrested recently in that country attempted to purchase 48 grams of enriched uranium in Luxembourg.
The Word Unheard has found no other reports in initial searches outside the Nuclear Threat Initiative report.
Questions to be answered:
- How long was Ibrahim Mohamed K. in Germany?
- Why Luxembourg? What is the connection & availability issue?
- From whom in Luxembourg was the purchase attempted? Was it a sting or a fresh attempt gone bad?
- Was the second man arrested at the same time & linked?
There is scant open-source information available at the moment. Regardless, this is news worthy of note and attention.
